Session Description

Himalaya is one of the hot spots for the occurrences of different geohazards including landslides, earthquakes, soil erosion and related cascading events. Understanding the recent trends of these hazards, their characterization, risk assessment and mitigation options are most essential to save the lives and properties in the region. 

Aim of the Session

The main aim of this sesson is to exchange the latest developments of the technology and methodology to identify, characterize and predict the geo-hazards in the himalaya for the risk reduction of the communities and infrastructures.  The increasing trend of cascading hazards is also another priority of the session. The session also seek to explore and share the knowledge on the recent technologies and methodologies on mitigating geohazards in the region along with the success stories in implementing such technologies across the region. In addition, the vulnerability and risk assessment of geohazards and associated cascading events will also be prioritized.  Submissions focused on one or some of these aspects are particularly encouraged.
